Jeremiah B (L.P.) Jones
Jeremiah L.P. Jones (military records state Jeremiah B.) was born August 28, 1837 and died October 19, 1890. He is buried in Brushy Creek Cemetery in Cullman Co., AL. He was first married to Amanda Filylend Speegle, born December 29, 1834, died May 30, 1887, daughter of Daniel Speegle. Their children were: William Vardie Columbus Jones, born February 17, 1859, died March 15, 1929, buried at Minor Hill, TN, married first, Mary Tubbs and second, Amanda Ann Chapman, born October 5, 1864, died February 2, 1912, buried at Phil Campbell, AL; Louis H.L. Jones, born August 13, 1860, died July 4, 1931, married Susan Ann Long, born February 18, 1862, died October 12, 1952; Zuriann Jones, married William H. Murphy. Jeremiah's second wife was Bettie Ann Speegle, born May 25, 1864, died June 24, 1891, daughter of Sallie Beasley and Michael Speegle. Children from this second marriage were: Arthur, born September 22, 1888, killed when thrown from a horse, buried at Brushy Creek Cemetery; Jeremiah L., born February 18, 1891, died June 19, 1891.
Children of William Vardie Columbus Jones and Mary Tubbs: Absalom Peter, James Albert and Ella S., who married Wylie Springer. Children by his second wife, Amanda: Christina Carniler, who married Luke Coleman; William H.H., died as an infant; Houston A., died as an infant; Mary Lula Elizabeth, married Bill Springer; Henry Clay, married Mary Magdalena Davis; Marandy Beatrice, married Clem Malone; Winnie Catherine, married Wheeler Musgrove; Alice Naomi, married John Green; Annie O., married Turner Williams; Iona, married a Todd; Thomas Marrow Jackson, died as an infant; Leonard Jones, died as a young boy; and Lily, who was a twin to Leonard.
Children of Henry Clay Jones and Mary Davis: Ona May, married 1st Arlie Lee Rose and second Lawrence White; James Aubrey, married Lillian Verlie White; Betsy Beatrice, married Wallace Ezell; and Thomas Calvin Jones, married Virginia McMullins.
Brothers of Jeremiah L.P. Jones were: William B., Thomas J.L., Jesse L., and J.F. Marion Jones.
